How to make your own wedding invitations

Where to start when creating your own wedding invitation?

Before creating your wedding invitations you may have lots of design ideas in your head and so it’s best to scribble these down to give you more of an idea of how they may appear. Of course these only need to be in rough but it gives you a starting off point. From looking at all the sketches you can see more clearly which style will work better than the other, or you may see that two of the styles you have created would work better together so you can mix match aspects of each design.

Remember that it’s always good to keep in style with the theme of the wedding for example if you are having a black and white wedding it wouldn’t be advisable to create green invitations.

Need some ideas of what to put on the invitations?

A simple and nice idea is to use a photograph of the happy couple on the front. Surround the picture with some loving words such as ‘Just the two of us’. Of course use a photograph that is complimentary to both bride and groom and one that works well within the style you have created for the invitation.

Arts and crafts can be used to make the invitations more unique and styled such as tissue paper, ribbons, stencils or stamps. The amount of detail you’d like to include will depend on you, the time you wish to put into the wedding invitations, and the cost.

Envelopes

You’ll also need to think about the envelopes to the cards for when you send them to the guests. It would be better if the style of the envelopes matched the style of the invitations as they would if you purchased them in a shop or had them professionally designed.
