Some key tips to remember for your wedding invitations
A checklist to ensure your wedding invitations are perfect
When deciding what to write on your wedding invitation some key points may be missed or forgotten, here is a check list to ensure you cover them all:
- You should not use any punctuation apart from after courtesy titles for example Mr. or Dr.
- All dates and times are spelled out rather than numerical such Friday 12th September 2008 oppose to 12.09.08
- A polite way to express that you would not like children at your reception is to write ‘Adult Reception’, this sounds a lot nicer rather than ‘No children allowed’
- If your reception is immediately following the ceremony you can use the left or right corner of the invitation to show it as a follow on from the day
- It gives a traditional touch to handwrite the addresses on the envelopes and to be written in full using no abbreviations. The company printing your wedding invitations can print up the envelopes as well as this can save time although it isn’t as personal as hand written.
- Remember the response cards! Asking people to RSVP is essential to planning your wedding so you know numbers and to help with the seating plan for example but you must remember to give a response card so the guest can let you know.
- It will take approximately 4-6 weeks from start to finish to order your wedding invitations. Give yourself about a week to send out the invitations and maybe a little longer if you are handwriting the envelopes yourself. Send out the invitations 6-8 weeks before the wedding itself.
