How many Wedding Invitations do you need?

Deciding who to invite to your wedding sounds easy enough and should be an easy task, especially compared to some of the other things that need organizing before the big day. You have both decided you don¡¦t want a huge wedding and so no more than a hundred people. Done! But what happens when you come to make your list and you realise that with your two families and friends it comes 250 people? How can you decide who to invite to your wedding and still keep it at the size you were originally wanting?

Who should you invite to your wedding?

When deciding who to invite to your wedding there are a few steps you can take to make this process a little easier. First of all make a list. Sit down with your partner and write a list of family members and friends from both sides. This gives you a starting off point. You can look at the total figure of this and work from there. Usually this number ends up being higher than what you had originally planned for the size of the wedding and so you need to revise the list and make it shorter.

How can you decide who not to invite to your wedding? Take your original list and transfer the ¡¥definites¡¦ to another list called the DEFINITE list. This will include close family members and friends such as parents, siblings, grandparents, aunties and uncles, and close personal friends. Having transferred your ¡¥definites¡¦ look at the original list again and see who is left. When deciding if you should invite the remaining people ask yourself these questions to help you decide if you should transfer them to the Definite List or not:

• How often do you really see or even speak to this person?
  
• Are you inviting them out of obligation?
  
• Can you see yourself having fun with them on the day? You don¡¦t want to be surrounded by people who bring you down, on your big day you don¡¦t want anything getting in the way of your happiness.
  
• Am I only inviting this person because they invited me to their wedding?

These questions will help you decide who to invite and who not to invite so you can get your list down to the size you can manage. As soon as you have decided on the number of the people you can push forward with the wedding invitations.
